Pirrin Francis is an emerging artist currently based in Brisbane. Francis’s practice is primarily concerned with compiling, re-constructing and inventing narratives to create spaces where reality and imagination intersect. Utilizing found, historical and autobiographical material Francis constructs intricate stories that arise from personal experiences as well as her interest in mythology and the natural world. These ideas are explored through installation, new-media and sound artworks.

Francis has obtained a Bachelor of Fine Art (Visual art) with first class honours (2011). She recently completed a summer residency with Boxcopy that resulted in a final collaborative exhibition ‘Made Up Dreams’ (2013). Francis’s work has been exhibited widely within collaborative and solo exhibitions throughout Brisbane some of which include: ‘I Just want to get to know you better, I just want you to get to know me better’ Current Projects (2012),  ‘Threefold’ Under the Radar Festival (Brisbane Powerhouse, Metro Arts, Queen St Mall (2012), ‘He Made the Ground Resound with his Fall’ Current Projects (2012).  Francis was a recipient of the Bryan – Manton Art Prize in 2011.
